Ronan Tynan moves audiences like few others can. His stirring performances, both as a member of The Irish Tenors and as a soloist, have brought him international fame, and his personal story of triumph in the face of adversity have made him one of the most sought-after speakers today. Tynan will speak AND sing at the 2007 Libraries fundraiser - the sixth annual Ferguson-Clark Author Lecture - at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in Waco Hall.

Patron tickets, include a ticket to a Patron Reception and Book-Signing, are $50 per person. General admission is $10 per person, with Baylor student tickets available for $5.

All proceeds from the event will be used to create a technology-enhanced learning space in the Moody Memorial Library.

Tynan has been in the national spotlight in recent years, performing at some of the most memorable events - from the 9/11 memorial services at Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden to Ronald Reagan's funeral and President George W. Bush's Inaugural prayer service at the National Cathedral.

A champion disabled athlete as well as a physician and celebrated tenor, Tynan's life was the subject of an ABC "20/20" profile and the BBC documentary, "Dr. Courageous." Born with a lower limb disability, Tynan had both of his legs amputated at age 20 after a motorcycle accident. Within a year after the operation, he was competing in the Paralympic Games - both in track and field and as an equestrian. Between 1981 and 1990, Tynan won 18 gold medals and set 14 world records, nine of which are still in place today.

Ronan Tynan's book, Halfway Home: My Life 'Til Now, and his music will be available for purchase at Waco Hall and the Patron Reception the night of the event. Both also are available at the Baylor Bookstore.
