The annual Battle of the Bands, sponsored by Kappa Delta and the Office of Campus Programs in Baylor Student Activities, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in the SUB Bowl.

The event, which will feature five up-and-coming bands, will offer $750, $500 and $250 prizes for the top three winners. Also, the winning band will have a chance to record two tracks on the upcoming B.R.A.N. (Baylor Rising Artist Network) Volume II CD compilation.

The bands will be judged by staff members from the office of Student Activities, as well as a representative of an Austin recording studio. Numerous bands submitted demo tapes, and five bands were chosen after the audition process. The bands include House of Orange, Faith Dies Last, The Aaron Austin Encounter, Judas Feet and The Willows.

In addition to the concert, Baylor Activities Council (BAC) is helping to sponsor a game area set aside from the concert. Musical games including Guitar Hero and Dance-Dance Revolution will be set up and ready to play. During breaks between bands, BAC also will sponsor a "Name That Tune" game.

Free food and drinks also will be available. For more information, call Student Activities at (254) 710-2371 or contact Molly Borgmeyer at (254) 710-4994.
