Annual Chi Omega Chili Cook-Off to Benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation

The Baylor University chapter of Chi Omega will host its annual All University Chili Cook-Off from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, at Burleson Quadrangle on the Baylor campus. Benefits from the Chili Cook-Off will be given to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, which helps grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The evening will include chili tasting, Dr Pepper and live music from the 10th Street Band. Student organizations pay an entrance fee of $20 to submit a pot of chili in the contest, and this year organizations have entered a combined 22 pots, compared to seven last year. Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and Kappa Kappa Gamma and Delta Delta Delta sororities have entered the most pots of all organizations. Throughout the evening, selected Baylor faculty members will judge the chili entries.

This year's judges include Dub Oliver, vice president of student life, Ryan Richardson, director of youth programs in university ministries, and Dr. Tom Hanks, professor of English. The cook-off winner will be announced at the end of the evening and will receive $100 for their organization.

"We're excited to have this Cook-Off because we know that the Make-a-Wish Foundation directly impacts children's lives, and we're proud to be a part of that," said Chi Omega Service Chair Laura Benesh.

Admission is $5 and includes an opportunity to taste all of the entries. The event is open to the public.

T-shirts for the event are available in Penland, Collins and Memorial Residence Hall cafeterias and at the Bill Daniel Student Center during the lunch hour or at the event itself. The t-shirt proceeds go directly to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
