Wind Ensemble To Perform At Baylor Feb. 11

Four special guests -- two conductors, a composer, and a soloist -- will be featured in a concert of the Baylor University Wind Ensemble, at 7:30 p.m Tuesday, Feb. 11, in Jones Concert Hall. The conductor and music director of the Wind Ensemble is Kevin Sedatole, associate professor and director of bands.
Conductor Ryan Smith will lead a performance of Aaron Copland's engaging orchestral work from 1938, An Outdoor Overture. Composer Rob Smith will make a presentation of his contemporary piece, PUSH.
Saxophonist Joey Reséndez, winner of the 2002 Baylor Concerto Competition, will appear as soloist in Ingolf Dahl's Saxophone Concerto from 1959.
Conductor James Tapia, director of orchestral activities at Syracuse University, will lead the Wind Ensemble's performance of Gustav Holst's Second Suite for Military Band.
Opening the concert will be Fred Junkin's arrangement of Marche joyeuse by Emmanuel Chabrier.
