Memorial Services Tonight at Miller Chapel for Baylor Adjunct Professor

December 20, 2006

Memorial services for Ruby Olar, an adjunct professor of ballroom dance at Baylor University, will be held tonight at 6 at Miller Chapel on the Baylor campus. Olar passed away last Thursday in the Marrs McLean Gym dance studio.

Olar was a 1970 graduate of Columbia University with a degree in recreation. At Baylor, he was an instructor of social dance and Tai Chi in the department of health, human performance and recreation. His obituary in the Waco Tribune-Herald read: "He loved working at Baylor and gave as much of himself as he could to his students and Baylor friends. He was raised in Chicago and loved his city of origin, but came to truly love the community of Waco."

Olar was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Olar, and his sister Linda Zuk of Marietta, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent in Ruby Olar's name to Fuzzy Friends Animal Rescue.

Please continue to keep Ruby's family in your prayers during this difficult time and during the holiday season.
