Baylor University To Celebrate 93rd Anniversary Homecoming

Baylor University will celebrate its 93rd Anniversary Homecoming Oct. 24-27 with various events and activities for current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends and supporters of Baylor.
Beginning on Friday, registration, campus maps and Homecoming schedules will be available at the Hughes-Dillard Alumni Center until 9 p.m. The Baylor Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting at 3 p.m. in Jones Theater of the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center. The meeting includes the W.R. White Awards presentation and the election of alumni board officers and representatives.
A special dinner for the Class of 1952, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, will be held at 5 p.m. Friday in Barfield Drawing Room in the Bill Daniel Student Center. Tickets for the dinner are either $12 or $14 depending on alumni association membership status.
Pigskin Revue, a long-standing Baylor tradition, will showcase the top eight student acts from 2002 All University Sing. The performances will take place in Waco Hall at 7 p.m. Thursday (this performance includes the crowning of the Homecoming Queen), at 7 and 10:15 p.m. Friday, and at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets remain for the 7 p.m. Thursday and 10:15 p.m. Friday performances and are available at the ticket office in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
The Baylor Religious Hour (BRH) choir will perform in the annual Singspiration at 7:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Waco. Baylor alumnus Ron Bowles will lead the singing. The annual Cabaret performance will feature the popular student ensemble ShowTime! at 8 p.m. Friday in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $8 for students and active members of the alumni association and $9 for non-active members.
At 9:30 p.m. Friday, alumni and students will meet at Fountain Mall for a pep rally and bonfire in preparation for the Homecoming football game between Baylor and Kansas State.
Extravaganza, an on-campus dance sponsored by the Baylor Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 10:30 p.m. to midnight Friday at Fountain Mall.
On Saturday at 8 a.m., the oldest and largest homecoming parade in the country will begin its journey from Austin Avenue in downtown Waco to Fourth Street, traveling under the Interstate 35 overpass to Fifth Street on campus. This year's parade will be broadcast at 9 a.m. on KWBU-TV Channel 34 and streamed live on http://www.baylortv.com/.
At noon, Snickers Touchdown Alley will open at the south end of Floyd Casey Stadium and provide live music, food and other fun activities before the Baylor-Kansas State game. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Reunion Picnic and Class Meetings also will take place in Touchdown Alley with a barbeque buffet at 11:30 a.m. for all alumni. Buffet prices vary according to alumni membership status. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
The Baylor Bears will face off against Kansas State in the homecoming football game at 2 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium. For tickets, contact the Baylor Athletic Department at (254) 710-1000.
On Saturday night, the Class of 1977 will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special dinner at 6 p.m. in Barfield Drawing Room in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
The Homecoming weekend will conclude with a special Homecoming worship service at 9 a.m. at Seventh and James Baptist Church in Waco. Dr. Buckner Fanning will deliver the message, and Ron Bowles will lead the music.
