Deputy Assistant Air Force Secretary To Speak At Baylor Oct. 16

John C. Truesdell, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Reserve Affairs, will speak to Baylor University's ROTC cadets at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in Bennett Auditorium. Truesdell, who is responsible for coordinating, planning and establishing policy for the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and Civil Air Patrol, will be available for media interviews at 3:45 p.m. outside the auditorium.
Truesdell, a Baylor alumnus and member of ROTC, graduated from the university in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. In 1967, he earned a master of science degree in industrial engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
He served for 30 years in the Air Force, both domestically and overseas including tours in Vietnam and Germany. He has commanded in combat, served in the offices of the Army Chief of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the National Security Council and was the senior adviser to the California National Guard. He was named Deputy Assistant Secretary in 2002 with responsibility for personnel, manpower, organization, force structure, logistics, inspections, budget, legislation, facilities, construction, operational training, exercises and peacetime support activities, the organizing and training of Individual Mobilization Augmentees, and unit location or relocation.
Truesdell is the recipient of a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Silver Star and Air Medal, among other awards.
