Westminster Abbey Theologian To Lecture Oct. 15, 23

World-renowned biblical scholar N.T. Wright, Canon Theologian at Westminster Abbey, will deliver two lectures during the month of October. Wright will speak on "History and the Resurrection" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Paul Powell Chapel at Baylor University's George W. Truett Theological Seminary. On Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. he will deliver "James, John and Jesus: The Challenge of the Cross" at Seventh and James Baptist Church. Both lectures are free and open to the public.
Serving as Distinguished Guest Professor of Biblical Literature at Baylor, Wright will be on campus Oct. 12-26. In addition to his two public lectures, he will speak at Chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 16, in Waco Hall.
Formerly dean of Lichfield Cathedral, one of the oldest cathedrals in England, he received his bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from Oxford University. He taught for 20 years at Cambridge, McGill and Oxford universities.
A prolific writer, Wright is the author of several acclaimed books, including Jesus and the Victory of God, The New Testament and the People of God, The Original Jesus and What Paul Really Said: The Climax of the Covenant.
He has served visiting lectureships at Cambridge, the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Harvard Divinity School and Duke Divinity School, among others.
