Academy Of Ancient Music To Perform At Baylor

The first concert of the Baylor University School of Music's Distinguished Artist Series will feature the Academy of Ancient Music orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in Jones Concert Hall. Now in the midst of an American tour, the Academy of Ancient Music is conducted by associate director and violin soloist Andrew Manze.
The program will include concertos by George Frideric Handel, Pietro Locatelli and Antonio Vivaldi, in addition to Heinrich Biber's spectacular Battalia and Francesco Geminiani's famous orchestration of Archangelo Corelli's variations on "La Follia."
Among the concertos will be "Summer" and "Winter" from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.
This is Manze's final tour with the Academy of Ancient Music Orchestra. He will assume leadership of The English Concert.
Tickets for this concert are $15. Senior citizens, Baylor faculty, staff and students will be admitted for $10.
