by Phallan Davis, Student Newswriter

Austin-based Latin band Salvador is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at Waco Hall. The concert is sponsored in part by the Place 2 BU, Baylor University's Hispanic Student Association and office of university ministries. Salvador will perform during Chapel at 10 and 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in Waco Hall.
Salvador, which means Savior in Spanish, includes brothers Nic and Art Gonzales, cousin Josh Gonzales, Eliot Torres, Chris Bevins, Pablo Gabaldon and Billy Griego. Signed with Myrrh Records, the band's sound is described as "vertical pop music," a blend between Christian and pop music. Produced by Monroe Jones and Dan Posthuma, the band's self-titled debut is "a lively and joyful journey through a colorful world of musical styles." The album bids a decided nod to Salvador's heritage with infectious Latin and Salsa rhythms from south of the border.
The concert is free, but seats are available on a first-come first-serve basis. For more information, contact Becky Kennedy, 710-3215.
