Baylor Symphony Orchestra To Perform Sept. 30

The 106-member Baylor University Symphony Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in Jones Concert Hall. Conductor-in-Residence Stephen Heyde will lead the orchestra.
The concert will open with the overture to Robert Schumann's only opera, Genoveva. Graduate assistant John Amagliani will conduct the Schumann piece.
Master orchestrator Ottorino Respighi wrote Feste Romane (Roman Festivals) in 1929. It depicts public spectacles from various periods in Roman history, including "The Circus," "The Jubilee," "The October Festival" and "The Epiphany."
Antonín Dvorák's Symphony, No. 7, which was written in 1885 on a commission from the Philharmonic Society of London, will then be performed. It was his first symphony in four years.
