Virtue Brings Soulful Sounds And A Meaningful Message To Baylor

Virtue, a contemporary gospel group comprised of three sisters from Alabama, will bring the soulful songs of their third album "Virtuosity" to students in Chapel at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, in Waco Hall on the Baylor University campus.
Ebony Trotter, Karima Kibble and Heather Trotter finished the "Sisters of the Spirit" tour in November with other Christian artists, including Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar and Mary Mary, where the group promoted the release of "Virtuosity."
Released under Verity Records in September 2001, the album has since climbed to the top five of Billboard Magazine's Gospel chart. The Gospel Music Association (GMA) nominated "Virtuosity" for Urban Album of the Year and the release, "He's Been Good," for Urban Song of the Year at the 33rd annual Dove Awards.
"We've been waiting for a long time, and we are very excited. It's our time now to encourage people to share our love for God with everyone," said Ebony, the eldest sister.
"People are very responsive to music. One of the opportunities we give students is to hear lots of different music, said Dr. Todd Lake, dean of university ministries. Throughout the semester we present traditional hymns, contemporary groups, classical musicians and gospel ensembles. At some point during the semester, each student gets the opportunity to hear music that they can enjoy and worship God through song."
A luncheon will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Monday in the Reynolds Conference Suite. Students may sign up to attend the luncheon after Chapel or by contacting the university ministries office.
