Baylor To Hold Summer Commencement Aug. 10
Baylor University will confer nearly 600 degrees during summer commencement exercises at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Ferrell Center.
Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr., who will give the traditional commencement address, will present diplomas to more than 400 undergraduates and approximately 185 graduate and seminary students. Minette Drumwright, vice chair of Baylor's Board of Regents, will bring greetings to the graduates, and Dr. Robert Collmer, distinguished professor emeritus of English, will act as bearer of the mace.
The Baylor Alumni Association will hold its traditional graduation celebration following the ceremony on the lawn outside the Ferrell Center. Graduates can visit with professors and are invited to become members of the Alumni Association.
Baylor will hold several activities Friday night for graduates and their families. Doctoral students, their spouses, department chairs and mentors are invited to a dinner hosted by the Graduate School at 7 p.m. Friday in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center. Reservations are required.
From 8:30 to 9 p.m. Friday night, as graduates and their families gather for the annual "Split" party, they will be serenaded by the bells of the McLane Carillon, located in the tower of Pat Neff Hall. Banana splits will be served at no cost beginning at 9 p.m. on the first floor of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
