Cool Off From Summer Heat At 'Udderly Delightful' Aug. 3

July 31, 2002

The Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village will sponsor a cool event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. "Udderly Delightful" dairy day will let village visitors collect old-fashioned recipes for cool dairy treats, such as custard and ice cream.
Visitors also can take a turn at cranking the ice cream maker and be rewarded with samples of refreshing homemade ice cream. Other activities include churning butter, joining a dairy scavenger hunt and making a milkmaid thaumatrope, an optical illusion toy. The Texas Dairy Council will provide samples of Texas-produced cheeses, including Great Hill Blue Cheese, Cabot Sharp Cheddar and sun-dried mozzarella.
Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and $1 for children ages 6 to 15. Baylor students, faculty and staff and children age 5 and under will be admitted at no charge.
