Baylor to Dedicate Centennial Fountain, Ed Crenshaw Student Foundation Center

Baylor University will hold two dedication ceremonies today (Friday, April 28).

At 11 a.m., the university will dedicate the renovation of The Centennial Fountain in memory of Trudy Peel Sanders, Class of 1976 and former assistant director of the Bear Foundation, who passed away last May after a valiant battle against breast cancer.

The Centennial Fountain is located at the base of the white bridge that crosses Waco Creek, just down from the Williams Bear Habitat.

The dedication will include brief remarks from Baylor President John M. Lilley and others who knew Trudy well, as well as a celebratory balloon release by members of Chi Omega sorority.

At 2 p.m., Baylor will dedicate the Ed Crenshaw Student Foundation Center, which is located on South Fifth Street between Speight and Bagby Avenues.

The dedication will include brief remarks from President Lilley and from Ed Crenshaw, a 1973 Baylor graduate and former president of Student Foundation. Crenshaw and his wife, Denise, provided the lead gift for the facility, the first permanent home in Student Foundation's 35-year history.

The Crenshaws are residents of Lakeland, Fla., where Crenshaw serves as president of Publix Supermarkets Inc., the largest and fastest-growing employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States.

A reception will follow immediately after the dedication ceremony.
