The Baylor University freshman class council will present Caedmon's Call in concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in Waco Hall. The concert is co-sponsored by A Place2BU, student government and the student union.
"The concert is a response to the desire for more Christian concerts on campus based on student suggestions to student government last spring," said Tim Whang, freshman class council co-director.
"It (the concert) is also a tool to bring Baylor and the Waco community together by providing a concert on Baylor's campus that is open to Baylor students and the entire Waco community," Whang said.
Caedmon's Call, a Christian band that has been together for nine years, has remained closely anchored to its home church, Second Baptist of Houston, throughout its history. Caedmon's Call has sold more than 750,000 copies of its three best-selling, critically acclaimed recordings. The group also has received a Dove Award for album of the year.
Tickets for the concert are $15 and $12 for students and may be purchased at the Bill Daniel Student Center ticket office. All proceeds from the concert will benefit Compassion International, the ministry charity of Caedmon's Call.
Compassion International is an advocate for children who are experiencing spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty. Compassion has ministries in 22 countries, including the United States.
