Former Baylor Quarterback to Speak at Chapel

Neal Jeffrey, associate pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas and former Baylor football player, will speak at Baylor University chapel services at 10 and 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in Waco Hall.

Jeffrey, a former 1974 All-SWC quarterback, led Baylor to the school's first conference championship in 50 years, as well as a trip to the Cotton Bowl. Jeffrey has been heralded as the leader of the 1974 'Miracle on the Brazos' team. After graduating from Baylor in 1975 he was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the 17th round of the 1975 NFL Draft. Jeffrey played for three years before entering the ministry.

He currently is the associate pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano where he leads both a men's and prayer ministry. Jeffrey eagerly accepted the opportunity to return to Baylor.

"I've always loved speaking to Baylor students; it's always nice to come back," Jeffrey said.

He plans to share his insights on prioritizing one's life around Jesus Christ.

"Football was always a major part of my life, but I realized throughout my career that Jesus deserves to be number one," Jeffrey said. "I hope students leave chapel motivated to center their lives around Jesus."

Neal and his wife, Sheila, reside in Dallas. They have three children: Natalie, Melissa and James.
