Baylor School of Social Work To Offer Family Ministry Academy

Baylor University's Center for Family and Community Ministries in the School of Social Work will launch its new Family Ministry Academy in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with Family Ministry 101 on Feb. 7 at Wilshire Baptist Church, 4316 Abrams Road.
The academy offers a series of three one-day workshops that focus on helping congregational and lay leaders strengthen family and community ministries. Family 201 and 301 will be offered in upcoming months. At the completion of the three workshops, participants will receive a Certificate of Celebration of Family and Ministry.
Presenters for Family 101 include Dr. Diana R. Garland, dean of Baylor's School of Social Work, and Bo Prosser, coordinator for congregational life, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
Family 101 explores the changing dynamics of family and family ministry, the missional family in congregations, how to nurture family faith and how to assess strengths and challenges of families within a congregation.
The workshop will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a lunch provided. Opportunities are provided between sessions for small group discussion and interaction with the presenters. Cost of the Family 101 workshop is $150 per participant, with lunch and materials included.
