Carol Leone To Lecture At Baylor School Of Music

Carol Leone, assistant professor of piano at Southern Methodist University, will speak at Baylor University at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, in Roxy Grove Hall. She will discuss the latest innovations in 7/8-size keyboards for pianists with small hands.
Leone's presentation will examine the effectiveness of the reduced-size keyboard for young or small-handed pianists for proper technical training and the reduction of injuries. She also will demonstrate a new design for reduced-sized piano keyboards--the results of a year-long study done at SMU.
Leone, a prize winner in international and national piano competitions, has taught throughout the United States and in Italy, Germany, Russia, the Czech Republic and South Korea. Her professional training has included study at The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she received a diploma and was a student of Polish pianist Mieczeslaw Horszowski. She was also a student of Italian pianist Guido Agosti in Rome and holds an Honors Diploma from the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy. She received a master of music and doctor of musical arts degrees from the University of North Texas College of Music.
