Dr. Terry S. Maness, dean of the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University, has announced the appointment of Dr. Mitchell Neubert to the position of Chavanne Chair for Christian Ethics in Business.
"Mitch is a good fit for this challenge," said Maness. "Christian ethics in business is an area of passion for him. Mitch will draw on his work in leadership to further our emphasis on developing principled leaders."
In the new position, Neubert will serve as a champion and catalyst for ethics across business disciplines and within Baylor's executive, graduate and undergraduate programs. He will seek to identify and develop opportunities to increase the focus, practice and synergy of ethics in the classroom, scholarly research and outreach activities.
Neubert also will continue to teach leadership classes offered in the management and entrepreneurship department and the MBA program.
"I won't carry the entire burden for ethics at the Business School," Neubert said. "That would be counterproductive. Rather, I will be involving and supporting others who have expertise in the unique ethical challenges of their discipline."
Neubert completed his doctorate in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior at the University of Iowa. Before joining Baylor he was the director of the nationally recognized masters programs in Organizational Change and Development at Bowling Green State University. Neubert has published in several academic and practitioner journals including Leadership Quarterly, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Small Groups Research, Business Horizons, Psychological Reports, Organization Development Journal, HR Advisor, Career Development International, and Human Performance.
Prior to his work in academia, Neubert gained valuable experience as an information systems administrator, a director of a non-profit ministry organization, and a change agent/trainer. As a consultant, he has developed leaders and facilitated change in non-profit educational, healthcare, and ministry organizations as well as for-profit organizations in the telecommunication, software development, petroleum, advertising, and automotive manufacturing industries.
