British Scholar of Early Christianity to Deliver Drumwright Lecture Jan. 17

Dr. Bruce Winter, warden of Tyndale House, an international center for biblical research in Cambridge, England, will deliver the keynote lecture at the Minette and Huber Lelland Drumwright Jr. Endowed Colloquium in New Testament Studies at Baylor University.
Winter's lecture, "The Cult of Christian Leadership and the Trojan Horse in the Midst of the Church," will begin at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the Paul and Katy Piper Great Hall at George W. Truett Theological Seminary on the Baylor campus.
Sponsored by Baylor's department of religion and Truett Seminary, the lecture is free and open to the public.
Winter serves as Fellow at St. Edmonds College, Cambridge, and is a member of the faculty of divinity at the university. He has served as visiting fellow and senior research fellow in the department of ancient history at Macquarie University in Sydney and as senior research fellow, distinguished visiting scholar and distinguished research professor at Samford University.
He received his bachelor's degree in politics and biblical studies and Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Queensland, a Scholar in Theology from Australian College of Theology, master of theology in biblical theology from S.E. Asian Graduate School of Theology and doctorate from Macquarie University.
A scholar of the intersection of the Greco-Roman world with the New Testament, Winter has published extensively in academic journals and books. His recent publications include "Carnal Conduct and Sanctification in 1 Corinthians, simul sanctus et peccator?" in Holiness and Ecclesiology in the New Testament and "Revelation v. Rhetoric: Paul and the First-Century Corinthian Fad" in Translating Truth: the Case for an Essentially Literal Bible Translation.
