Brumley Named Interim VP for University Relations

November 18, 2005

Baylor University Interim President William D. Underwood today appointed Larry D. Brumley, senior associate vice president for external relations, to serve as the university's interim vice president for university relations, effective Dec. 1. Brumley succeeds R. Kimberly Gaynor, who has served as interim vice president since November 2003.

"Larry Brumley has a thorough understanding of Baylor University and its various constituents and has been a trusted and valued counselor to me as interim president," Underwood said. "His communications and marketing experience, knowledge and skills will serve him well in this role."

Brumley joined the administration in 1997 as associate vice president for communications and oversees the Office of Public Relations, Baylor Magazine, Youth Programs and KWBU-TV and KWBU-FM. He previously led the university relations division on an interim basis from February to November 2003.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Baylor in 1982 and holds a master's degree in mass communication from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to returning to Baylor in 1997, he served in communications and marketing positions at Mercer University and Oklahoma Baptist University.

"I wish to thank Kim Gaynor for his service to the University during this interim period," Underwood said. "He has led the University Relations division during an important transitional period in Baylor's history."
