Debate To Focus On War In Afghanistan

November 6, 2001

Four Baylor University students will debate whether the war in Afghanistan is justified as part of the annual Rufus and Alline Huff Debate on U.S. Foreign Policy. Presented by the Glenn R. Capp Debate Forum, the debate will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Bennett Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
Taking part in the debate will be Robert Little, a senior from Sherman; Blake Thomas, a senior from Amarillo; Sabrina Neff, a senior from Plainview; and Mathew Titus, a senior from Emporia, Kan. The students will debate the justification for the war by focusing on the philosophy of U.S. foreign policy and national security.
The annual Huff debate is made possible by the generous contributions of the family and friends of Col. and Mrs. Rufus Huff. Two of the Huff's three sons graduated from Baylor: Richard Huff (B.A., 1969) and Wayne Huff (B.A., 1972). Both Richard and Wayne Huff are attorneys and participated in debate during their high school years. Wayne Huff and wife Melinda Smith Huff won numerous awards as members of Baylor's debate program.
