Bob Bullock Dead at 69

Former Lt. Gov. Bob Bullock died Friday, June 18, at the age of 69. A 1958 graduate of Baylor Law School, Lt. Gov. Bullock was the recipient of numerous honors and awards from Baylor University, including being named a Distinguished Alumnus.
Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr. and Chancellor Herbert H. Reynolds had the following reaction to the news of Lt. Gov. Bullock's death.

"Bob Bullock was one of the great characters in Texas history. In fact, he was one of the greatest Texans of the 20th century. He was a master at striking deals, finding common ground and making coalitions with very different kinds of people. He was powerful in the best sense of the word. He knew power and was not afraid to wield it, yet he used it for the benefit of all Texans. He loved Texas. Gov. Bullock was deeply loyal to his state and to his alma mater, Baylor University."

"Lt. Gov. Bullock made a lasting contribution to the life of Baylor University, to all of Central Texas, to our state and even our nation as one of the most unique and strongest leaders of our time. He was distinctive in every way, always wanting what was best for Texas and expending himself completely to that end. His record of public service is nonpareil and I am thankful to have been his friend for many years, dating back to our Air Force days. He will be sorely missed and there will not be another to come down the pike quite like him. I extend our profound sympathy to his wife, Jan, and his entire family and thank them for sharing Bob with us for so many years."
