Baylor currently has more than $60 million in construction projects underway on campus. These projects address needed facilities upgrades, renovations and expanded parking availability. There also are several athletic facilities under construction at Baylor.
The largest project underway is the Student Life Center. Construction began in May, 1998, and is scheduled for completion in the fall of 1999. Also scheduled for completion by the fall are the Speight Avenue Parking Garage and renovations to the School of Nursing campus in Dallas.
Of the future projects in planning, three are almost ready to enter the construction phase. In October 1998 Baylor announced a $20 million gift from three Baylor law grads, and in April 1999 ground was broken for the Sheila and Walter Umphrey Law Center on the banks of the Brazos River. Site preparation has begun for the Truett Seminary campus, and the Harry and Anna Jeanes Discovery Center is nearing construction.
