Baylor Honors 2001 Family Business Contest Winners

WACO, Texas -- Companies from Dallas, Houston, Hemphill and Texarkana are among the winners in the 12th annual Texas Family Business of the Year competition, sponsored by Baylor University's Institute for Family Business.
More than 100 businesses across the Lone Star State were nominated for the contest, which honors top firms demonstrating strong business and family values. Judges include family business consultants, advisers and principals of family firms.
This year's award winners are: Small family business (50 or fewer employees) -- Harry H. Price & Son Inc., Dallas; medium family business (51-250 employees) -- A & E Products Company, Houston; large family business (more than 250 employees) -- Warren Electric Group, Houston; community commitment award -- The Premier Company, Houston; family values award -- Bealls Furniture & Appliance Inc., Hemphill; fastest growing award -- Commercial National Bank of Texarkana; founders award -- LeGrand & Sons Ornamental Ironwork, Texarkana; and well-managed award -- Double Diamond Inc., Dallas.
Finalists in the competition included: Actuaries & Associates, Amarillo; Bryant & Daughter Insurance Agency, San Angelo; Farias & Farias Inc., Laredo; Grant Sales, Plano; Irving Counter Inc., Irving; National Lloyds Insurance Company, Waco; Pecan Deluxe Candy Company, Dallas; Phillips & Sons Refrigeration Inc., Texarkana; and Wonderland Amusements Inc., Amarillo.
The companies will be honored at an Oct. 18 awards ceremony at the Barfield Drawing Room in the Bill Daniel Student Center at Baylor.
