October 8, 2001

by Haley L. Wright

Gloria Hammond, a pediatrician serving the poor, will speak at 10 and 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, during Baylor University's Chapel at Waco Hall on campus.
Hammond will provide students with an "insider's view" of how Christians can minister to those in need. She has a long history of involvement with youth and community activities. Her practice in pediatrics and adolescent medicine is in one of Boston's most challenging inner-city communities. Hammond also is the author of numerous papers and articles on a variety of issues from abortion to sexual intimacy in marriage.
Hammond's visit coincides with Mission Emphasis Week. The week will feature twenty-nine missionaries from all denominations.
