Libraries to Extend Hours for Late-Night Studying

September 7, 2005

Starting next week, Baylor University students will be able to work around the clock in designated areas of Moody Memorial Library. On Sept. 11, the special "24/5" hours of operation will begin for the Moody Garden Computing Facility, the Prichard Family Information Commons, the Allbritton Exhibits Foyer, the Java City area and the Harvey Garden.
These areas will be open 24 hours a day from Sunday at 1 p.m. through Friday at 9:30 p.m. The regular library hours will remain in effect on Saturday when the library is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The library reopens at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Additionally, the Information Commons on the second floor of Moody is now the central location for all laptop checkouts. The commons has 84 available laptop computers, and students can borrow them for up to four hours. For each additional hour over the limit, a $10 fee will apply, and borrowers must continue to remain in the building, said Cheyenne Kelly, computer facilities coordinator.
