Baylor Tops 14,000 With Record Fall Enrollment
Baylor University has enrolled more than 14,000 students this fall, the largest number of students ever in the university's 156-year history.
Official 12th-day enrollment statistics compiled by the Office of the Registrar show Baylor's total university enrollment at 14,221 students, an increase of 502 from last fall's record enrollment.
This year's freshman class includes 2,801 students, a decrease of 31 students from last fall. The average SAT score of the Baylor Class of 2005 is 1175, identical to last year's average.
Overall Baylor has enrolled 12,190 undergraduates; 1,219 graduate students; 413 in the School of Law; and a record 296 students in George W. Truett Theological Seminary.
At the U.S. Army Academy of Health Sciences in San Antonio, where Baylor has graduate programs in healthcare administration and physical therapy, 91 students are enrolled. In addition, 12 students are enrolled in the new doctor of science in physical therapy (DScPT) program at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Approved by Baylor's board of regents in May, the new doctoral program elevated the U.S. Army Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency program offered at the medical center from a certificate program to a degree program. The Army's only other residency program in physical therapy is offered at West Point.
