The Baylor University School of Music announces its showcase series, three gala concerts for the fall semester in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building.
Baylor Organist-in-Residence Joyce Jones will open the series on Sept. 7. Acclaimed as a concert organist for nearly four decades, Jones has performed in 44 states and 12 foreign countries. A concert by the Wind Ensemble, which has received rave reviews from the international press for its numerous compact disc recordings, will take place on Sept. 21. The 58-member band is conducted by Baylor's associate director of bands Jeffrey Grogan.
Baylor's A Cappella Choir will present the final concert in the series on Nov. 2. The A Cappella Choir, conducted by Dr. Donald Bailey, director of choral activities, has performed for state and national conventions, including the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the American Choral Directors Association.
Showcase Series tickets are priced at $5 and will be available at the door only, with no advance sales. Also available at the door only will be The Showcase Card--valid for all three concerts, designated preferred-seating locations and admission to post-concert receptions with the artists. The Showcase Card is $20.
