Two Exhibits Open In Moody Library Through Sept. 15

Two exhibits are open in Baylor University's Moody Memorial Library this summer and will run through Sept. 15.
Sheila Slater, catalog librarian, has assembled an exhibit of fiber art, including pieces she has created and clothing she collected while on a textile study tour in Kyoto, Japan, last spring. Shibori, the Japanese art of embellishing textiles to create areas of resist before dyeing, and rozome, wax-resist dyeing, are featured in two cases in the Moody concourse. Slater's wearable art is displayed in the two upright cases in the Moody foyer.
Also on exhibit are mementos collected by Baptist missionaries Margaret and Aaron Webber. The couple served as missionaries in Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Cuba from 1931 until 1969. Linda McGennis and Gail Coker of the libraries' acquisitions department designed this exhibit, which is displayed in the flat cases in the Moody foyer.
