Greg Jackson Named Baylor's Young Lawyer of the Year

Greg Jackson, a Fort Worth attorney, has been honored as the 2005 Baylor University Young Lawyer of the Year. Jackson received the award at the annual reception of the Baylor Law Alumni Association, held Thursday evening in Dallas during the State Bar of Texas Convention.

The Young Lawyer of the Year Award was created in 1995 to recognize an outstanding graduate 40 or younger who has brought honor and distinction to Baylor Law School and to the legal profession. Recipients of the award are selected by the Baylor Law Alumni Association.

Jackson, who was born in Fort Worth and raised in Hillsboro, received his law degree in 1995 from Baylor Law School and his bachelor of business administration degree in 1994 from Baylor's Hankamer School of Business. He and his wife, Claudine, who also is a 1995 Baylor law graduate, have two children, Grant, two and a half years old, and Sarah, five months.

He recently completed a term as the chairman of the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA), which has a membership of more than 22,000 throughout the state. He also served as chair of the TYLA executive committee and is a former TYLA vice president, secretary, and seven-year TYLA board member. He has also undertaken numerous other responsibilities for the Fort Worth-Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association and the Tarrant County Bar Association, as well as many community leadership roles in Fort Worth and Tarrant County.

Jackson's professional background includes attorney positions with both small and large law firms and he now practices as a solo lawyer in Fort Worth.

Baylor Law Dean Brad Toben, who presented the award, said Jackson's accomplishments in the legal profession and his service with the TYLA and other professional and civic organizations had brought great credit and distinction to Baylor Law School. He said Jackson had distinguished himself through his outstanding dedication to the legal profession and to his community. The surprise presentation was watched by about 100 Baylor law alumni and friends of Baylor Law School who attended the reception at the Wyndham Anatole Hotel in Dallas.
