Celebrate Earth Day At Ollie Mae Moen Discovery Center April 21

April 17, 2001

Baylor University's Ollie Mae Moen Discovery Center, in partnership with the City of Waco Solid Waste, Parks and Water Departments, Keep Waco Beautiful, Clean McLennan County and the TNRCC, will celebrate Earth Day with a family activity from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the center.
Visitors can learn about the significance of Earth Day and can participate in various hands-on activities, including making paper, leaf rubbings, paper hats and "thumb-bodies;" blowing bubbles using bubble wands made from recycled materials; playing games such as Recycle Twister; and seeing and handling the composting worms. There will be information and demonstrations about renewable energy and a "trash-formation" station where visitors can take apart old appliances and make something new.
In addition to Earth Day activity stations, the entire museum will be open to visitors.
The Ollie Mae Moen Discovery Center is located at 220 S. Fourth St. The entrance to the building and the parking lot are off Third Street. Earth Day activities are free, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
