Baylor University's admission services and several student organizations will host hundreds of prospective students and their parents Friday and Saturday, April 22-23 during Spring Premiere.
The premiere provides a glimpse of college life by offering informational sessions, campus tours and meetings with Baylor faculty, staff and students. Student organizations sponsoring Spring Premiere include Student Foundation, Student Tele-Counseling, admissions representatives and Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity.
The weekend will begin with a mixer from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday on the fifth floor of the Cashion Academic Center. The informational mixer will provide an opportunity for prospective students and parents to enjoy refreshments with current Baylor students and admission services staff. Perspective students and their families are invited to attend Island Party, an annual event hosted by Beta Upsilon Chi, on Fountain Mall.
On Saturday, registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. at the Ferrell Center, where participants can pick up their premiere packets and enjoy a light breakfast. The "Welcome to Baylor" opening session will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., hosted by the admission services staff, Alpha Phi Omega, and Marilyn Crone, vice president for enrollment management. The Baylor Spirit Squads will perform and Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr. will address the guests.
The remainder of the day will include "Pick and Choose Time" which will allow participants to explore the Baylor campus. Several different sessions will be held on topics such as admissions, study abroad programs and life in the residence hall.
A student activities fair will be held on Fountain Mall from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Participants will be able to talk with current students and learn about ways to become involved at Baylor. About 50 student organizations will be represented.
Perspective students can choose two academic sessions, scheduled for 2 and 3 p.m., that will introduce them to fields of study through the presentations given by Baylor professors.
The premiere will wrap up in Waco Hall from 4 to 4:30 p.m., with performances by current Baylor students, including two Sing acts by Alpha Tau Omega and Kappa Chi Alpha. Following the closing session, high school seniors and transfer students are invited to a reception, held in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
Premiere dates for next fall and spring semesters are Sept. 16-17, Feb. 3-4, and April 21-22.
