Baylor To Host Leningrad Native For Women's History Lecture

Baylor University's history department will host Professor Zoia Belyakova, an expert on the Romanov Dynasty, who will speak on "Russian Empresses" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Room 149 of the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center on the Baylor campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Born in Leningrad and a graduate of Leningrad University, Belyakova has focused her research and publishing on the House of Romanov from the beginning of the dynasty in 1613 to its downfall in 1917. In 1994, she published The Romanov Legacy: The Palaces of St. Petersburg and in 1995, she published The Grand Duchess Maria and Her Palace which recounts the history of the favorite daughter of Czar Nicholas I.
During the last decade, Belyakova has traveled extensively in Great Britain and the United States to lecture on the Romanov Dynasty. Fore more information about her speech, contact the history department at 710-2667.
