Baylor Hosts Diversity And Gifted Education Conference Oct. 20
Baylor University's Center for Community Learning and Enrichment will host "Diversity and Developing Gifts and Talents: A National Action Plan for Leaders in Gifted Education" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, in the Barfield Drawing Room in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
The conference is designed for teachers, parents and administrators to learn how to identify and serve diverse gifted and talented students.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $40, and participants will earn credit for the six-hour annual GT update. Breakout sessions will be held on such topics as "Gifted Students in the Regular Classroom," "Why K-2? The Early Recognition Giftedness," "African American Talent Development with Project CREATES" and "Some Myths and Realities in Gifted Education."
Lunch for all conference participants will be provided. Tracy L. Cross, executive director of the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities, will deliver the luncheon keynote address on "The Social and Emotional Lives of Gifted Children."
