Printmaking Exhibit Opens At Martin Museum Of Art Sept. 6

An exhibit of works by printmakers Dennis Olson and John Whitesell will open tomorrow at Baylor University's Martin Museum of Art in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center. The exhibit will run through Oct. 14.
Olson, who serves as professor of drawing, print making and digital imaging at the University of Texas at San Antonio, will exhibit 14 works, many of which will feature a new technique in printmaking that uses ink jet printing and oil paint.
A graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, Olson has exhibited at the American Museum of Art at the Smithsonian Institute, the Portland Museum of Art and contemporary art galleries.
Whitesell, who serves as professor of printmaking at the University of Louisville, will exhibit 12 abstract works that were created using a woodblock technique. He earned his master's degree from Indiana University and received an Indiana Arts Commission Fellowship in 1979, a Kentucky Arts Commission Grant in 1980 and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant in 1984. His works can be found in more than 40 U.S. and international collections.
The Martin Museum of Art is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday and during matinee and evening theater performances at the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.
