Jacobson To Perform Sept. 12 At Baylor

Dr. Michael Jacobson, professor of saxophone in the Baylor University School of Music, will present a faculty recital at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in Meadows Recital Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building.
Jacobson, who has been a member of the Baylor music faculty since 1984, holds a bachelor of music degree from Arizona State University, a masters of music degree from Indiana University, and a doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He will be assisted by pianist Douglas Claybrook who serves as lecturer in academic studies at Baylor.
The program will open with Robert Muczynski's Saxophone Sonata, Op. 29, and will be followed by "Light of Sothis" by Amy Quate. This work is in three movements: "Grace," "Passion" and "Faith."
After a brief intermission, Jacobson will perform "Holy Roller," a 1998 composition by Libby Larsen.
The program will close with "Rumba" by Maurice C. Whitney.
