Baylor's School Of Music Presents Opera Scenes April 7-8

Baylor University Opera Theater will present "An Evening of Opera Scenes" at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Baylor Blackbox Opera Theater, which is located near University Parks Drive, between the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center and Waco Creek.
Both performances of opera excerpts, fully staged and costumed, with piano accompaniment, will be directed by Richard Aslanian, lecturer in music and director of opera at Baylor. All of the scenes will be performed in English.
Opening the program will be an excerpt from Act I of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Così fan tutte, and scenes from Gaetano Donizetti's Don Pasquale and Francis Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites will follow.
The second half of the presentation will feature excerpts from Kirke Mechem's Tartuffe and Robert Ward's Roman Fever, followed by a pivotal scene from Gian-Carlo Menotti's The Consul.
