Sculpture Exhibit To Open Feb. 22

A sculpture exhibit featuring the works of Thad A. Duhigg will open tomorrow at the University Art Gallery in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center on the Baylor University campus. The show will run through March 25.
Duhigg serves as professor of sculpture at Texas Christian University. He has exhibited his works at the Contemporary Art Space and the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, both in Budapest, Hungary; the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth; the Rockford Art Museum in Rockford, Ill.; and the Amarillo Museum of Art. Additionally, he has pieces on permanent display at the Fulbright Commission in Budapest, Hungary; the Huntsville Museum of Art, in Alabama; Del Mar College in Corpus Christi; and at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill.
The University Art Gallery exhibit features 10 of Duhigg's sculptures. Fashioned of a combination of steel and painted textiles, the abstract works vary in size from an enormous piece approximately 11 feet tall to small tables.
"This is an interesting and very engaging show. I believe people will enjoy it," said Denny Pickett, director of the University Art Gallery and visiting assistant professor of art.
The University Art Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and during matinee and evening performances of Baylor Theater. There is no admission charge.
