Concert Artist Presents Piano Recital Jan. 24

Peter Collins, associate professor of piano at Southwest Missouri State University, will present a guest recital at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, in Roxy Grove Hall on the Baylor University campus. The recital will include music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Béla Bartók and Frédéric Chopin.
The program will open with Mozart's Piano Sonata in C major, K. 309, and Beethoven's Rondo in G major, Op. 51, No. 2. The first half of the recital will conclude with a performance of Bartók's Piano Sonata from 1926.
Following intermission, Collins will return to the stage to play the 24 Préludes, Op. 28, of Chopin.
A native of New Orleans, Collins holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and a doctorate from the University of Michigan. He has won several awards in national and international piano competitions.
Collins's recordings appear on the Albany, Centaur, and Hester-Park labels.
