Heritage Harvest Bonfire Set for Nov. 2

Baylor University faculty, staff, students and the Waco community are invited to attend the Heritage Harvest Bonfire from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village.
"We think the village is a wonderful place to have fun. The advantage is being able to be outside on a crisp, autumn night," said Dinah Siemon, education coordinator.
The bonfire will have a western-carnival theme with staff dressed in attire that matches the theme and setting. There will be activities the whole family can enjoy, such as horseshoes, domino matches, toss the washer, king cotton and bowling pin knock off. The winners of the games will receive small prizes.
To add a little more nostalgia to the evening, Leslie Collier, part-time educator at the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village, will tell stories by the bonfire. Collier directs and acts in local theater productions and is also a retired high school English teacher.
"I love to do storytelling," said Collier. "I enjoy telling stories to children because they can get so wrapped up in them, which in turn gets me more into them."
Tickets for the event are free for Baylor faculty, staff and students. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and $1 for children ages 5 to 15 for the community. Children ages 4 and under are free.
