Baylor Faculty Present Jazz Recital Oct. 18

Two members of the Baylor University music faculty, Michael Jacobson and Benjamin Irom, will combine their talents as performers and composers to present a jazz recital at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, in Meadows Recital Hall. Jacobson is an assistant professor of saxophone, and Irom is a lecturer in jazz studies.
Also taking part in the recital will be Thomas Machalek, string bass, and Mike Koenning, drums.
The program will open with "Del Sasser" by Sam Jones, "The More I See You" by Warren and Gordon, "Summer's End" by Ralph Towner and "After You've Gone" by Creamer and Layton.
A piece, "Contènto," written by Jacobson will follow.
Following "Infant Eyes" by Wayne Shorter, "Donna Lee" by Charlie Parker and "Softly, As in a Morning Sunrise" by Sigmund Romberg and Oscar Hammerstein Jr., the musicians will play a piece written by Irom, "Allegro con Fusion."
