October 1, 1999

The Baylor University African Student Association (ASA) will host a jazz festival and banquet at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
The banquet is a celebration of the fine and performing arts. An awards ceremony will be held to honor professors, graduating seniors and outstanding students from the Waco community who have made contributions to the arts.
The jazz banquet will begin with a catered dinner. Entertainment will be provided by 3rd Coast, a jazz-fusion group that plays innovative interpretations of jazz-rock styles. The group, which consists of five members with diverse musical backgrounds, has performed throughout Texas and can be seen nationally and internationally on over 300 public television stations.
The event also will showcase student talent in the areas of poetry, opera, jazz and classical music.
Dress for the event is semi-formal. Tickets are $7 for singles and $12 for couples and can be purchased until Oct. 6 at the ticket office in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
