Baylor Welcomes Parents for Annual Parents Weekend Oct. 1-2

Baylor University will present its annual Parents Weekend on Oct. 1-2. Parents will have opportunities to learn about Baylor by touring the campus, meeting faculty and attending events planned by the Baylor Chamber of Commerce.
To kick off the weekend, there will be an Open Bear Pit where visitors can view Baylor's new mascot, Judge Herbert H. "Chance" Reynolds, from 2-4 p.m. Friday at the Steve Hudson Memorial Bear Plaza.
Parents will have the opportunity to experience a typical classroom setting and hear Baylor professors speak about their areas of expertise.Times and locations will be announced at registration. Robert L. Reid, Professor Emeritus and Master Teacher, will tell the history of Baylor at 5 p.m. in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
After Dark, Baylor's annual variety show, will feature student performers, including vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers and comedians at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. in Waco Hall. The evening also will include a dessert party at 9 p.m. in Burleson Quadrangle with entertainment provided by the Ed Burleson band.
Saturday's events will begin with a parent/faculty coffee at 8:30 a.m. at Founder's Mall, during which parents can meet with professors and administrators. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Student Center and Marrs McLean gymnasium. Dinner on the Grounds will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village.
The weekend will conclude when the Baylor football team takes on the University of North Texas at Floyd Casey Stadium.
