Gender Studies to Sponsor Lecture on Men and Religion April 22

Baylor University's gender studies program will sponsor a lecture on "Redeeming Men: Religion and Masculinities" by Dr. Mark Muesse, associate professor of religious studies at Rhodes College in Tennessee. The lecture will begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22, in room 101 of the Tidwell Bible Building on the Baylor campus.
Muesse, a Baylor alumnus, received his bachelor's degree in English from the university in 1979. He earned a master of theology degree from Harvard Divinity School and his doctorate from Harvard University. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, he has taught at Rhodes College since 1988. Additionally, in 1990 he served as visiting professor at Tamilnadu Theological Seminary in Madurai, India.
Muesse is the author of "Are the Promise Keepers Right on Submission," "Religious Machismo: Masculinity and Fundamentalism" and "The Men's Movement" and co-editor of Redeeming Men, a collection of essays on men and religion.
Muesse's lecture is free and open to the public.
