Phi Beta Kappa Director to Lecture April 7

Dr. Douglas Foard, the executive director of Phi Beta Kappa, will deliver a lecture, "Phi Beta Kappa: From Quill Pens to Cyberspace," at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Cox Lecture Hall in the basement of the Armstrong Browning Library on the Baylor University campus.
Foard received his bachelor's degree from Randolf-Macon College and his master's degree from the University of Virginia. He earned his doctorate in history from Washington University. He has served as Phi Beta Kappa executive director since 1989.
With an expertise in modern Spanish history, Foard is the author of The Revolt of the Aesthetes: Ernest Giménez Caballero and the Origins of Spanish Fascism, as well as numerous journal publications. Additionally, he served as a consultant for the National Museum of Natural History "Seeds of Change" exhibit and for the Library of Congress "The Ongoing Voyage" exhibit.
Foard is a past recipient of the Superior Achievement Award, presented by the National Endowment for the Humanities and is listed in Who's Who in America.
Foard's lecture is free and open to the public.
