Baylor Woodwind Quintet Performs on March 28

The Baylor Woodwind Quintet -- comprised of five members of the Baylor University music faculty -- will present a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday in Roxy Grove Hall.
Members of the Baylor Woodwind Quintet are Helen Ann Shanley, associate professor of flute; Doris DeLoach, professor of oboe; Richard Shanley, professor of clarinet; Kenton Moore, assistant professor of bassoon; and Margaret Robinson, assistant professor of horn.
The opening work on the program is also the earliest chronologically -- the Trois pièces en quintette by Adolphe Deslandres, a French composer and organist who lived from 1840 to 1911. As the title suggests, the work is in three movements: Andante, Scherzo and Finale.
Next, the quintet will play Night Journey, a composition dating from 1987 by Bruce Adolphe.
Following intermission, Danish composer Jørgin Jersild's Music-making in the Forest will be heard. This piece is subtitled "Serenade for Woodwind Quintet." It was written in 1947.
Concluding the afternoon's music will be Anthony Plog's Animal Ditties. This engaging suite consists of "The Kangaroo," "The Canary," "Guppies," "The Ostrich" and "The Fly."
