Memorial Service Set to Honor Martin Luther King Jr. Jan. 15

January 13, 1999

A memorial service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in Miller Chapel on the Baylor University campus. The Martin Luther King Jr. committee of the Association of Black Students will host the service.
The committee chairperson, Kquinta McKenzie, expects more than 200 Baylor students, faculty and staff members, and community leaders to attend. This year's theme is "Continuing the Legacy."
The service will begin with a candlelight unity walk from the Bill Daniel Student Center to Miller Chapel, which is located on the first floor of Tidwell Bible Building. Participants in the walk will meet in front of the Bill Daniel Student Center at 6:45 p.m. In case of bad weather, participants should meet in Miller Chapel.
Musical and dramatic presentations and a special guest speaker, Robert L. Lowe, will be featured during the service. Special music will be provided by the renowned Hinds Sisters of New York and Portraits, a performing youth group from Waco.
The service is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the office of student activities at 710-2371.
