Singspiration to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of BRH Choir

October 29, 1998

This year's Baylor University Homecoming festivities will include a special Singspiration on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Singspiration is a Homecoming songfest sponsored by the Alumni Association.
The highlight of the 1998 Singspiration is the Baylor Religious Hour Choir's (BRH) 50th anniversary. The Baylor Religious Hour Choir started in 1948 under the founding director, Richard "Dick" Baker. The BRH Choir is an audition group that travels throughout Texas and to neighboring states.
Singspiration will honor former directors of the BRH Choir and alumni members of the group. Baker will perform a feature solo act, as will another former director, Kurt Kaiser. Two alumni groups will also perform. The first group will consist of former BRH Choir members from 1948-1975 and the second group will include members from 1976-1997. The 1998 BRH Choir will perform a gospel/contemporary mixture of musical pieces. Singspiration will also include the congregation for sing-along pieces.
Singspiration is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Alumni Association at 710-1121.
